In April 2016 the new terminal was formally opened to great acclaim.
The previous terminal building constructed in 1963 had come to the end of its useful life and IAL embarked on the journey to build a modern facility the Southland Community can be proud of.
Structural features include stone column ground improvement, on-show portal frames comprising dual glue laminated timber curved rafters with steel column portals and polished concrete floors.
