Lewis Bradford carried out the structural design of the sculpture and its support structure, and has acted as project manager for the project. Other than a grant from Creative New Zealand the project has no significant cash sponsors, rather it is a collaboration of like-minded local firms wanting to contribute to the recovery of Christchurch city. The sculpture will be hosted by the Christchurch City Council in Latimer Square from 2014. It is a temporary work that can be relocated to a new site in the future.

Helen Trappitt of Lewis Bradford approached Neil Dawson in 2012 about creating a new sculpture for Christchurch. Neil agreed, and came up with a stunning concept based on the lost Spire of Christ Church Cathedral.
